Chi Pub Lib Opinions again

Ok, so I did submit the first chipublib design the other day, but I started working on another after I did some work on the type. I really like the way I made teh type into one image and I wanted some crazy illustration to go with it, but I think it still has to do with library without being obvious. So once again I'll need opinons:
#1 Original
#2 Original with lines (I like the most)
and #3...add color?

So whatever I decide, I don't think its done, I will work on it more, but I'd like to get more feedback. (and Im super proud to say I drew it all by hand with the moussee).  :D

more chi pub

Ok so I posted a while ago some sketches and ideas for the ChiPubLibDotOrg design contest. I finally got to work on my idea a bit more and this is what I'm up to so far:

It's not quite done, somethings missing/not quite right. Also I can't decide if the "pub" should be black or white outlined in black orrrr something different. Gimme suggestions. Gracias.

my new stencil:

Just finished stenciling this pic, going to be a sweet painting for over the tv. It's massive by the way, about 36'' x 48''-ish

Dewitt sketch...

For Shan....for whatever reason:

Shannon specifically requested I draw for her a trumpet and an elephant head. So I did... Here you go sis:

I believe I have lost all creative talent in my body. This may affect my  blog about doodling and art. Hmm

AMERICAAAH...

This is what I made at work today... haha its a comp. a lenticular (hologram) for a book cover. How tacky/great its it? haha. Go Presidents!

FPQ 3/13 (from work)

Instead of a caption, this friday it was a haiku challenge!
Some of the responses:
Get down, foul lions,
you soil my jumpsuit with blood!
You won't? Then taste blade!

King of the jungle?
Ha! Fools, you just got served by
Kraven the Hunter!

I do not always
drink beer. But when I do, I
*cough* choose Dos Equis.

Roy said he left me
for Siegfried because of my
"rage problem." BITCH, PLEASE.

Mexican Elvis!
Beware of his wrath and knives.
Lions will weep blood.

See this lush chest hair
Lion blood and aloe plant
Use my secret well

digitize me

I found this roll of tape on a website that had the image that digital clocks and screens make numbers and letters out of, and the object is to just black out the lines you don't need to make letters and numbers as clocks do. I made my own, and I think I am going to at least make some strips out of to write on. Digital clocks...so much fun.

Start with this:

Rough poster #1

hmm... everything is a lot cooler in my head. Maybe I should just keep it there.

YNM #milion

DUH! Michrofiche!

uh see below for this to make some sense.

ChiPubLib

I saw an ad in the reader for a design contest for the Chicago Public Library. The ad itself was awesome so I looked into it. Its a poster design that would also be a tee. 18 x24 that just has to incorporate the "chi pub lib . org" in it- to promote their website. I think it's definitely worth putting some effort into because its being judged by Jay Ryan of The Bird Machine (awesome), and it would be throughout chicago if chosen. I have a design of the type I started, pretty much the usual stacked different hand drawn fonts I doodle, but I want the side to have a library-themed design. So I worked on this little diddy below (Sorry at work and cant scan in so my phone camera will have to suffice):
They wanted to emphasize books, music, movies, downloads, performances, etc., ya know everything the libary can give ya. So this is what I have so far. I imagine this set next to my *hopefully* sweet type but left white and the background designed. Thoughts? Anything else that you can get/do at a library (that's not something ancient like those old blue screens that were used to view old newspapers, what where they called) that I'm missing?

(And the general idea for the type, just the IDEA):

whaddup blur

Last week's FPQ:

I wasn't at work on friday, but here was the FPQ that was sent out:
This image:
that asked "Question: What is this album's #1 hit single?"
Some of the responses:
"The answer is "There's a Hole in My Heart that Can Only Be Filled By Uke," clearly. "

"Angel Fasettos and Dinky Riffs (For Tiny Tim)"
and the b-side:
"I Can Do It Halfway (Walkin' On Water is Tough for Smarmy Jesus)"

1. Ukean't Touch This
B-Side:
2. Roll Down the Window (I Gotta Uke)

"I got my first real four-string/
Bought it at the dollar store/
Photoshopped some hearts and stuff/
Was the summer of 2004"
Your response:_____________

OH EM GEE GEE

I'm still stuck on these hearts. I'll do something with them someday...

The things that keep me going...

Doug gave me the lovely suggestion of posting my weekly "Wednesday WTF's" and the "FPQ's" (Friday Pop Quiz's). What are those you ask? These are one of the few things that keep half of Pub Int. still making the trek out to the 'burbs to publish terrible books. There is an email list of what I'd like to classify as "the people with a sense of humor/souls" that get these weekly emails that usually include an amazingly awesome pic from who knows where and all of us do our best to respond with a caption or comment. I'm not as witty as the other people I work with, especially those writers in Editorial. I think they have an unfair advantage! So here is the first of probably many- Last weeks FPQ:
and one of the many responses:

Clearly, Dad enjoys this a lot more than his kids.
Dad: "Slooooow Ride! Take it EEEEE-zay! That car just MOVED!!! HAhahAHahA!!!"
Daughter: "Is Dad high again?"
Son: "Yup."
