Recycled Wine Bottle Projects

Crafters: Anyone seen any cool ideas or websites on what to do with old wine bottles? I can just recycle them, but I kinda want to turn them into something. Right now they make me look like a hoarder since the empty ones sit on top of my cupboards. I don't really want to do anything involving cutting the glass or just making them into little vases...snore... Any ideas?

I like these two...but uh I'm neither an electrician nor a craftsman...

CrossProcess

Awesome new app from the makers of ShakeItPhoto, my other favorite. Love it.

this notebook is cool

I'm usually a sucker for moleskins... like everyone else. But this notebook was $8 and has tons of pockets on the front and back! Neattt. It's my ideas/projects notebook.

For the eye....now YARD SALE

Yep I updated... everything is going to match....as soon as I have a new website.

It's came about from a roundabout way of thinking that ended up in realization of selling designs and artwork was almost like a yard sale... it makes sense to me. That's all that matters right?

Buttercup Logos

Some possible logos and a recipe card for Buttercup Baking Co. ;)  I like the first grouping a lot better than the second.

Lent

I haven't given something up for lent in a looong time. Sometimes I decide to take on things, not necessarily good things either. This year I actually am going to give up something. Give up SHOPPING. Thinking about this is already causing my anxiety levels to rise. I don't shop a lot by any means, I'm poor–but I tend to shop lightly but frequently. Oh a pretty shirt on a weekend, a dress and maybe shoes too on the next... it adds up. I have plenty of clothes and this is going to force myself to go through them all and find new ways to wear them as well. I just love clothes and as dumb and housewife-ish as this sounds, shopping makes me feel good. You feel good when you look good, have you not learned this from countless episodes of What Not To Wear? So today begins day 2 of no shopping until after lent. This may sound like a very easy thing to do for some, but 40 days and living in the 3rd largest city with some of the best shopping around the corner of my apt. ughh. Also having to purchase new $$$ computer programs when the new computer you JUST bought will not run the old ones is more motivation that I'll ever need to not spend on clothes. I can do it. Luckily Mommy and Daddy are visiting right when lent is ending. Cha-ching! haha. jk.

Buttt if anyone wants to buy me these before they are not available 39 days from now, I'd greatly appreciate it, size 8, haha. Ughh I need them.

I want this

I stumbled across these gorgeous oil paintings of vintage Barbies by Judy Ragagli. I really want one. If I become rich at some point in my life (or just a lot better off than I am now) I will buy a painting from her.

Tommy WISEAU!

This past friday, Mickey and I went to see a screening of The Room, with special appearance by the-one-and-only, TOMMY WISEAU at the Music Box theatre. If you don't know about The Room or Tommy...go do some research, I don't feel like explaining. Well it was awesome and so entertaining. I took a video of when he first came out before the movie started just so you can get a feel of actually how crazy he is. None of that is an act, the man is really insane.
We also got to meet him afterwards and get his autograph, so exciting. You can see the rest of the pictures here

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's everyone. I've always kinda liked Valentine's day, even in the past 23 out of 24 years when I haven't had a "special someone" on that day. You get candy and cards when you're little because it's MANDATORY, and when you're older it's a chance for a stranger to admit their attraction to you for no reason other than it's february 14th.

The past few years, I've tried to make valentine's for my sisters and my family. Last year I did really funny ones (I AM HILARIOUS!) and this year just a little something pretty. I drew some little things that myself or the person on the receiving end likes. (I do not like Pugs, haha). I did them to look like quick watercolor sketches, printed them out, and wrote a short note on the back. For the ones I mailed–I never have proper stationary, so being lazy turned into a cute creative endeavor and made the envelopes out of an old Urban Outfitters catalog. Though TheSimpson's stamps don't really go with the look I was trying to capture, haha. Hope you enjoyed your valentine's day. :)

coming soon...hopefully

New website!
So far this is how I think I want it to look...

1 lb meatball

Maybe when the menu says "One pound meatball"... it means it. Mickey's dinner last night. Yikes.

Etsyetsyyy

So I finally created an etsy shop. You can find it here www.etsy.com/shop/Eburke1285 . It's for the older paintings I've had hanging around that I want to sell/actually see if I can sell for higher prices to random people. I'm still def doing paintings for friends all the time. We'll see how this goes.

Oh and what's YARD SALE....more on that to come. This blog may be changing to the "YARD SALE" blog. But I'll explain that later.

RHYTHM...

Well this is what I have been doing the past week.  A good friend's boyfriend has talked with me about possibly doing designs for his snowboard co. (Exciting!) So we'll see where this goes, but for now, here's my ideas I sent him. This was so much fun--can't this be my everday job!?! They're basically just rough drafts of what's in my head right now, and the second two have the same pattern but I just love it so much. The third uh....top side* of the board would probably be elaborated on/changed, etc. but this is a start! Any readers who are snowboarders, let me know what you like/dont like or what you look for in boards. From looking at  other brand's websites, it seems almost–the simpler the better?

*Yeah, I've never been snowboarding.

Look what I "made"

Ignore the awkwardness of the photo-there's really no place to take a full-length pic of myself other than the front of the bathroom door, open.  I bought this dress last weekend when Shannon was in town, I loved the fabric and print, but it was way past the knees, almost ankle length. So I whipped out the sewing machine and hemmed  it. I love it now!
