A while back I made a post about doing this project called "The Memory Project" for my old high school art teacher, Ms. D. Well this is the final version. I have to say it's been a while since I've done such a realistic portrait with pencil and I thought the leftover board I was using was the kind I used to use but I was way wrong. It was just really bad matboard that eventually shredded the more you burnished so–yeah not good for this. I tried to make him smile more but I just couldn't get it! Oh well, this is the final picture, I'm mailing it this weekend, and hopefully Tsewang will enjoy it when he eventually gets it.

NEW computer!

Well my new 21.5'' imac came yesterday* and it's beaaaaautiful. I haven't gotten up all day since I've set it up. It's wonderful. Now I can finally skype with a camera (yes a webcam is big news to me) so I did that for most of the morning with my family. Sorry Shan but I kept telling you to stop making such awful faces because I was taking screenshots...so here you go! HA. And also a shot of my setup, sorry it's dark my apt. is pretty cavelike, but I like it that way.
*Fed Ex sucks, while it was supposed to be delivered yesterday, clearly no one is home at 2pm so I had to drive out to SKOKIE...basically where I work to pick it up today. Yeah Fed Ex delivers on saturday... LIES.

Wow, thanks Mom for sending me this wonderful pic this morning. Check out the outfits, Dad in not the infamous red shorts, but an equally short/amazing yellow pair, and mom–those socks, let alone the whole outfit. Haha, I love this picture. Not sure if that's me or Shan in the stroller...?

You guyssss! The best thing ever happened to me today. So myself and basically anyone I am close to are avid followers of the website Videogum. Today had an especially funny post: Best New Party Game definately go read it. Viewers comment and you can "upvote" or "downvote" the comments. Well, for the first time ever I have the highest voted comment! 22 as of 3:20pm!! Haha. Whatever this is big news. Read the post or my comment won't make sense. Mine (below). Ugh ignore the typo, there's no correcting these posts.

Sister weekend

Shannon came to visit me this weekend because she had a 3-day weekend and found a perfect super cheap flight. We had a good but very busy weekend. Here's a few pics from the phone from the weekend. Top: Saw Hood Internet/Neon Indian (pictured) on friday night when Shan got in. Walking around on saturday "Teen Scene" display at borders...really? Bowerbirds played inside Reckless Records that afternoon. And the last is on my way to work, I wish you could read it, but it says "Book your valentine's dinner today" on the White Castle sign. No thanks.

3 portraits: #2

I am not as pleased with #2 as I am with #1, but I was referencing a much smaller resolution photo. I've had this idea for a while to do a series of portraits from the mugshots online. That's where I found Juan here.

And I know I said I'd do 3 illustrations today, but I just got handed some work and my eyes are hurting and my jaw is tense (that happens when I concentrate for a while), so it'll be just two today, sorry!

I love this guys stuff! I want my portraits to be this good. (The greyhounds are my computer background). So today I think I'll spend the whole day doing portraits in this style–sorry "real" work, you'll just have to wait.

I think this may be how I look at my blog very soon. Aka: Time to get a new computer! My little laptop has been great over 5 years but it's about that time. Hopefully my wallet thinks so too.  ;)

Sledding

This weekend, on a whim, I went sledding with Mickey and Justin on just about the only hill in Chicago. It was a lot of fun, very cold. More pics here.

BOBBY

Recently, I've been having a really hard time going to sleep, staying asleep, etc. So my dad sent me some vitamins to promote better sleep... and this is what my mom included in the package; it's my teddy bear from back in the day! So funny. Good surprise. Thanks mom!

Snow!

Over the past few days we've gotten LOTS of nonstop snow. I also took advantage of this weather and just went sledding. Those pictures are coming soon, they're pretty funny.
