While doing research for a calligraphy book at work, I came across images of ornamental penmanship from the late 1800's/early 1900's that I am obsessed with. Besides amazingly beautiful handwriting, there's lots of illustrations made completely out of calligraphic strokes, and all by hand. I didn't even know this stuff existed but I've already got a folder full of links and images of this extremely detailed work. Also lots of really pretty ornate alphabets from around then too.
