communiTYler

Here are some versions of logos I've created for the website communityler.org. The site isn't live yet but check back in a few days when it is. The idea is to get people to do something good in their own community all over the country. I can't wait to see the finished product.

Crafty Type

Just finished another type project, made an all cut paper card. My fingers hurt. I basically did it because I've been seeing some really awesome cut typography on blogs lately and I just wanted to see if I could do the same. Here's a couple in-progress shots and the final thing.

Pasta Type!

I went a little crazy last night (trust me, what follows this sentence is not usually what you'd hear after that phrase) and wanted to take on an experimental typography project. For some reason or another I ended up making PASTA TYPOGRAPHY. It was fun, extremely tedious and really sticky. No glue involved, just fresh pasta. Please excuse my photography skills and lighting but I had to capture it before it dried. I left a Tupperware top over it last night and when I woke up this morning the noodles were mostly in the same shape but turned brittle and a few curves straightened out. It was pretty while it lasted.

After completing an album design for the band "Treehouse",  I took some of their imagery we worked with and started changing it up for another design option, to create something for myself.

One zin necklace

My sister has started selling her handmade earrings, barrettes and now necklaces on Etsy. She just posted this one the other day (I actually have the exact same one in my possession--Thanks sister!) Check out her site, she will be posting a lot more of these necklaces soon.

And it's up! Hersteria

These are fun

Making some fun banners for a coworker's blog called, Hersteria. Go read it–now.

Portfolio update

Since I recently updated my portfolio site (thisisyardsale.com) I thought it was time to revamp the rest of my promotional materials, so I made a new portfolio book (perfect bound yeahhh!) and printed up some business cards for the moment. I was impressed with my binding skills and how my book turned out because if anyone knew me in college, you'd know my craft was not the cleanest. I guess I was lazy back then?

I put this together to illustrate how my prints could be turned into some really great things for the house... fingers crossed.

Brilliant-phase 2

A logo (I'm actually proud of). Although a bit complex... it's just for me... and a non-existent company (for now).

Immortalized-ish

Someone pinned my work for ChiPubLib.org to their "illustration" board on Pinterest. (Thanks for the comment below Shan)

A little something for myself this time... working this into something.

Little brother

And now to post on my brother... He just posted his newest project, "Doom Laser" on bandcamp. Click below and download or stream, pretty good stuff. The track titles are the best.

Oh and here's a crazy video my brother's friend Brady made to go with the track:

The faces of "Treehouse"

A little more on the comic side...

Here's an odd bunch of characters... they're for something that works better all together but here is just part of the characters themselves, that I've illustrated. The samurai isn't really done, he's giving me problems. I am not a comic book artist.

Justin cut-outs

A good friend, Justin, is taking a hiatus from Chicago for a bit to go back to school in Madison. While he won't be too far, we had a bit of a surprise-going-away get-together for him this weekend. I made sure to bring cardboard cutouts of his face for everyone who showed up. Normal, right?

Obstacle Art

Taken Saturday at Montrose Beach. I thought it was some sort of art piece but it was actually just an obstacle for a 5K on the beach.
