Usually when I'm home with my Mom and my sister(s), we get crafty. Nothing was different this Christmas break. I had been seeing a lot of Peter pan collars in stores and online and wanted to try to make some myself. I drew up a pattern, sat my mom down at the sewing machine and we cranked out a handful! I think the embellished ones are so cute.

Sibs-giving crafts
This year was the first year that all my siblings got together (sans parents) to have our own thanksgiving. My sister and I love to craft so we thought we'd bring some fun to the table settings. I made napkin holders/place cards for everyone with their portraits on them, and Shannon set up a great table "cloth" and decorations for the kitchen.

Turkey-day craft preview
I am making some fun things for my family for Thanksgiving. I don't want to give anything away yet, but here's a sneak peak. More photos after Thanksgiving–I want to keep it as a surprise to them!

I know I have just been posting a lot about Rhythm lately, but it's still really exciting to me to have my designs be on a snowboard. Along with designing boards, I am also working on an image for shirts/sweatshirts. It will most likely be close to this top image in the end.

And now my board is for sale! The guys at Rhythm just revamped their site and added this year's lineup of boards, including my lovely vintage lady board. Go check out "The Chop"

DIY pouch
I found a post for a hand dyed leather and neon pouch on etsy that I loved, but it was sold out and a tad out of my price range. (Below: via ClutchNY on Etsy)
Not even a month later I stumbled upon a blog post for a DIY neon painted leather pouch. All you need is a leather pouch (like the ones from American Apparel I had been stalking for months) and acrylic paint.
Here's the link to the blog post.
Ta-da! Finished product: I'm obsessed.

Devito Pumpkin
Halloween is my all-time favorite time of the year, I think I like it more than Christmas. Sadly, I won't actually be able to really celebrate halloween since I'll be out of town at a wedding, but I still had to carve pumpkins. For those who know me, you know that I get way into pumpkin carving. It's serious business. For the past 4 years I have created a Dwight Schrute pumpkin (I don't think a photo exists), A Mickey Pumpkin, John Lithgow (WHICH he tweeted about!) and this year a Danny Devito pumpkin:

This past Saturday I had a little art sale at Bucketfeet's Trunk show. It was pretty successful, I sold a few things and got pretty positive feedback with a lot of my paintings and prints. I'd love to do something like this again, hopefully with a bigger crowd next time. Also I'll be posting what didn't sell on my etsy page soon, so keep an eye out for that.

Come out to BucketFeet's trunk show tomorrow (previous post). I have a stack of new paintings and prints I'm lugging over and check out their shoes too. Bring yer friendssss.

communiTYler
Here are some versions of logos I've created for the website communityler.org. The site isn't live yet but check back in a few days when it is. The idea is to get people to do something good in their own community all over the country. I can't wait to see the finished product.

Crafty Type
Just finished another type project, made an all cut paper card. My fingers hurt. I basically did it because I've been seeing some really awesome cut typography on blogs lately and I just wanted to see if I could do the same. Here's a couple in-progress shots and the final thing.

Pasta Type!
I went a little crazy last night (trust me, what follows this sentence is not usually what you'd hear after that phrase) and wanted to take on an experimental typography project. For some reason or another I ended up making PASTA TYPOGRAPHY. It was fun, extremely tedious and really sticky. No glue involved, just fresh pasta. Please excuse my photography skills and lighting but I had to capture it before it dried. I left a Tupperware top over it last night and when I woke up this morning the noodles were mostly in the same shape but turned brittle and a few curves straightened out. It was pretty while it lasted.

One zin necklace
My sister has started selling her handmade earrings, barrettes and now necklaces on Etsy. She just posted this one the other day (I actually have the exact same one in my possession--Thanks sister!) Check out her site, she will be posting a lot more of these necklaces soon.

Portfolio update
Since I recently updated my portfolio site (thisisyardsale.com) I thought it was time to revamp the rest of my promotional materials, so I made a new portfolio book (perfect bound yeahhh!) and printed up some business cards for the moment. I was impressed with my binding skills and how my book turned out because if anyone knew me in college, you'd know my craft was not the cleanest. I guess I was lazy back then?

Brilliant-phase 2
A logo (I'm actually proud of). Although a bit complex... it's just for me... and a non-existent company (for now).
Immortalized-ish
Someone pinned my work for ChiPubLib.org to their "illustration" board on Pinterest. (Thanks for the comment below Shan)
